Body Grace was founded by Denise Gracie in 2014, after gaining her Level 3 Pilates Mat qualification with Pilates Union UK, accredited by Central YMCA qualifications and Skills Active. In 2017, Denise added the BarreConcept method to her portfolio also which combines Ballet, Yoga and Pilates into one fitness workout. In 2022, Denise also became fully certified in teaching yoga.
Denise retrained as a Pilates teacher after having her second child, Max, in 2011, after discovering how Pilates transformed her lower back pain, which she felt was largely brought on by sitting for long periods while working in an office-based environment. Denise believed that Pilates had been instrumental in relieving her symptoms and quickly developed a desire to become fully qualified herself so that she could share her passion and the benefits with others.
Having competed in Highland Dancing all through her youth, the transition into Pilates, which originally originated within the dance community was a natural progression for Denise, which then led her towards BarreConcept and following that, to yoga. Denise credits her yoga journey for leading her on the path towards becoming a qualified counsellor, which she is studying for part time, while she continues teaching.
Denise runs several mixed ability classes, suitable, for all levels and runs classes for older students who desire or require, a gentler pace. Additionally, Denise offers private lessons for those who wish to practice in the comfort of their own home and aside from weekly classes, also runs various wellness workshops throughout the year, which include yin yoga, chanting, yoga nidra and guided meditations.
