Hello everyone and welcome to my new website.
2019 has already been such a busy year and aside from teaching I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time getting my Body Grace website up and running with the much-needed help of Nicky Smith of North East Consulting Ltd.
My website has been on the back burner for some time now so I’m absolutely delighted to have it online and of course a huge thank you to Nicky for his time and effort on this.
Aside from my website I also completed my Barrefloor course which I did online at the start of the year. In my opinion you can’t beat face to face training, however for continuous professional development I am a big fan of online courses as they are great for fitting in with my everyday busy lifestyle.
Barrefloor, by BarreConcept is a body conditioning workout performed on the mat, combining ballet movements with the alignment of yoga and the precision of Pilates. Set to the beat of the music, this energetic toning class does not require a ballet barre but does require commitment, stamina and passion. It’s a dynamic, brisk and challenging workout that sculpts the body from head to toe.
I’ve started bringing many Barrefloor exercises into my BarreConcept and Pilates classes and my students will always hear me say that variety is the spice of life! I’m always trying to new things and I spend a lot of time developing and expanding my own knowledge and abilities so that I can keep things fresh and interesting for my students and continue to grow as a teacher.
Our new freestanding ballet barres which were made by The Barre also arrived in April just in time for our Spring block of classes starting and we’ve been enjoying trying some new moves with our shiny new barres. The stability of the barres has not disappointed but being told by the manufacturer that these barres are used on Strictly and Dancing on Ice, I was pretty certain the quality would impress.
The rest of the year looks set to continue being just as busy and I’m looking forward to running some BarreConcept taster sessions at the Family Sportathon 2019 being held during the 10th to 11th of May, organised by the NewMatchu Nutters to raise funds for the amazing Charlie House charity.
Going forward I’ll be writing regular blogs on all things Pilates and Barre related here and I hope you find this information useful.
Your dedicated Pilates teacher,
